Cast-in-Place Retaining Walls

Concrete retaining walls are heavily reinforced concrete walls designed to hold back earth. Typically these types of walls are long and straight and are ideally suited for welded wire reinforcement. The details below illustrate the use of welded wire reinforcement in a typical concrete retaining wall. Sheet WWR-101 is designed for the wall and sheet WWR-201 is designed for the footer.

The sheets are designed for finger joints to eliminate steel buildup at lap joints. The joints are precisely welded together at precise intervals reducing the required inspection for proper steel placement. Welded joints are by their very nature a stronger connection than hand-tied rebar. This makes the welded wire reinforcement easer to install.

Installing custom prefabricated sheets in-lue-of conventional rebar results in a faster installation. Faster installation results in less labor.  Less labor means less cost. In today’s competitive environment being cost effective is the bottom line.
