Continuously Reinforced Concrete Paving
Save both money and placing time with Welded Wire Reinforcement, when soil conditions and heavy traffic loads, lead the designer to a Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement as the proper design. There are no transverse contraction joints and the pavement is expected to crack. Sheets of WWR hold the small cracks tightly closed and assures in large part the structural integrity of the concrete pavement.
Ivy Steel & Wire has the capability to produce sheets of mesh with large wires that can provide the required steel area in most cases. The sheets are staggered in both the longitudinal and transverse direction and lapped with a splice known as a “Finger Lap”, The “Finger Lap” allows the lap to remain in one plane by the use of deformed wires and prevents a build-up of steel in the lap areas.
Properly designed steel reinforcing is essential to the performance of the pavement, which is subjected to constant movement resulting from temperature and differential loading.
