Pre-Cast Modular Retaining Walls

Welded Wire Reinforcement by Ivy Steel & Wire can save you time and money by using less steel when you have a retaining wall to build. Using Welded Wire Reinforcning in retaining walls can take advantage of Welded Wire Reinforcement’s strength and ease of placement to achieve greater economy. Since retaining walls are expected to perform for many years, it is important to place the reinforcement within tight tolerances to assure adequate cover. The fact that Welded Wire Reinforcement can be precisely placed in a sheet and held rigid by welding will make it easier to get a quality product.

Precast Modular Retaining Walls are precast units usually constructed as an open-end box or H- Section, filled with soil and stacked to a height required to hold back the lateral pressure of the soil behind the wall. The use of Welded Wire Reinforcement in the construction of these precast units will save the Precast Manufacturer time and money in placing the required reinforcement to tight tolerance requirements. These precast units will be subjected to corrosive forces over a long period of time, thus the amount and consistency of protective concrete cover is extremely important. The ability of Welded Wire Reinforcement to be supplied in various wire sizes and spacing as well as the ability to be bent into almost any shape, makes it ideal for this application.

A Crib Retaining Wall is another form of precast concrete wall consisting of rectangular “logs” that are stacked in an interlocking pattern. WWR can prove economical in reinforcing these units.
