Ivy Steel Purchases South Florida Rebar Fabricator - Houston Texas, May 5, 2008 - Ivy Steel & Wire of Houston, Texas, has purchased Pilot Steel of Pompano Beach, Florida. Pilot is a supplier of reinforcing steel and accessories to the south Florida concrete construction market.

Mike McCall, President of Ivy Steel said “The addition of Pilot moves Ivy another step forward in providing efficient, convenient and reliable reinforcing solutions to the North American construction industry.”

In addition to the Pilot operation in Pompano Beach, Ivy operates two other plants in Jacksonville and Tampa, Florida. These three strategically located plants will position Ivy to effectively take advantage of opportunities to supply reinforcing products in this major market as the construction industry reenergizes.

Pilot will continue to do business under the Pilot Steel name and Stuart Disbury, who founded and led Pilot Steel for more than 20 years, will remain as Division Manager. Disbury commented about the acquisition, “I am very pleased to be a part of Ivy Steel & Wire. Ivy is the leading producer of welded wire fabric and also supplies PC strand from its MMIStrandCo/RettCo operation in Newnan, Ga.
